The Ugly Duckling was written for children. It was published in Denmark November 11, 1843 by Hans Christian Anderson. The fairy tale involves a personal and physical transformation. A young bird that is different from the others therefore noted as being ugly grows up and finds his own kind and discovers that he is beautiful. This is one of the fairy tales with a lesson for children. The author noted that this fairy tale was a reflection of his own life. Most fairy tales have a lesson to be learned by the reader.
